Karel Husa Visiting Professor Lecture: Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez
For composer and Eastman School of Music professor Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez, composing music is, “fundamentally, hard, daily work that reflects upon and realizes a poetic vision.” By doing with music what Paul Klee would do with painting, that is, “taking a line for a walk” Sanchez Gutierrez aspires to “discover, through an intense dialogue with the [musical] materials, that which can only be described with musical sound.” Prof. Sanchez Gutierrez will discuss his recent music during this first Karel Husa Visiting Professor lecture.
