All About Brass

Clichés swirl around brass like a January snowstorm in upstate New York: high school marching bands, taps, military parades. These cliches white out the complexities of brass instruments, erasing their tonalities and textures--and deadening our ears.

But brass exceeds all of these simplifications and reductions.

In this special panel celebrating FLEFF's 25th anniversary, four brass virtuosos take us deep into these instruments and the music written for them, plopping us into new exciting listening pathways. They will tell us about their artistic strategies, the histories of their instruments, and the expansive brass repertoire.

And we promise: you will leave this session WITH NEW EARS!

SPECIAL BONUS:  This session is a pre-concert talk to prep audiences for our FLEFF 25th Anniversary Brass Grand Finale IN PERSON on Sunday April 10 at 4 p.m, in Ford Hall on the Ithaca College campus!
