Be prepared for everything that you think could and couldn’t happen and don’t be ashamed or embarrassed of who you are or who you want to become and if people don’t like it and it makes you happy do it anyway ! It’s your life! Your feelings ! Your choice! Make it for you ! Do it for yourself and then surround yourself with people who support that you.

What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?

Being a first-generation college graduate means it’s possible and that it can be done! If not you then who ? If now now then when?

What is your proudest moment from your time at Ithaca College?

My proudest moment was realizing I had discovered my true passion and doing it despite all opinions outside of my own and moving forward with my heart to then publishing multiple poetry pieces.


Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?

I’m am forever grateful to everyone and anyone who supported me for five minutes or for 4 years. I love all y’all! I am blessed for each and every one of you. A special thanks to my immediate family that really rocked with me on this journey and showed up when I didn’t know I needed them too. Oh and can’t forget the two who where there every single day. Myles and Jeneen I love y’all too!!


Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?

Katie Marks you are my foundation where I was able to just discuss and lay out the pieces in my mind about poetry and life and figure it out with you. You gave me to space and perspectives I needed to see to become the creator I am. Thalia fisher, Derek Adams, Jamie warburton , Eric Howd, BRENDA WICKS!!!!!!, Jerry Mirskin, Mike Haaf, Nicole Horsley, And Matt Mogekwu Just to name a few you have all believed in me and we’re good to me and I’m so grateful to have had the interactions I did with each of you.


What do you plan or hope to do now that you have graduated?

I plan to continue with my poetry, doing performances and publish my first collection that will be audible!!

Are there any Clubs, Activities, or Involvements that you were a part of at Ithaca College?

Big shout out to all ALANA organizations but S2S especially because although I was never consistent with going every year I know how important it is for back freshman’s to really find there place on this campus and is was S2S that finally made me more comfortable and aware of the community we had no matter how small.
