Landscapes: a picture that shows a natural scene of land or the countryside; an area of land that has a particular quality or appearance; a particular area of activity
Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival: a different environment
In the past, FLEFF has not just focused on one specific concept or idea, unlike a typical landscape. Instead, FLEFF fosters a space that creates it’s own landscape; one that is all encompassing, celebrating new mediums, knowledge and levels of awareness. In FLEFF’s landscape, all of this is merged together.
2015 has been filled with diversity and change.
Similar to FLEFF, the past year has shaped it’s own landscape. By utilizing technology and social media platforms, race and gender movements have been able to at least generate discussion in a vast amount of communities, and in some cases spark revolutionary change.
This years theme offers tribute to the events and viewpoints leading up until now, but also proses the question: how can we improve our own landscapes?
Through landscapes we are able to reflect on our past achievements, but also look towards what is on the horizon. Landscapes provide an archive, but also an inspiration for ideas to be dreamt, mediums to be invented, and a whole other landscape to be captured.
