To learn is to be out of your comfort zone, to diverge from what you already know. Education is a disruption.

Therefore, it is fitting that the theme of this year’s Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival is disruptions.

With international programming and controversial subject matter, the films at this year’s festival are expected to shock audiences. Annually, FLEFF attendees come prepared to learn, discuss, and question.

Disruptions are meant to spark curiosity, the primary aim of FLEFF.

A hub of intellectual discussion, the festival welcomes academics, local attendees, and international guests. A mix of spectators, coming from different backgrounds and experiences, all have varying perspectives on the issues the films will present.

The contradiction in attitudes work as disruptions, opportunities to learn from each other, to branch out of what you think you know.

Disruptions are a complete change of course, an insight into what else might be out there, a change in mindset.
