Yesterday I attended the civil society demonstration held in downtown Paris, rather than head up to the official ceremony at the COP.   The conference website stated that, given expected crowds, you needed a ticket, and implied that they would difficult to get. Given that I’d probably just end up watching the video feed, it didn’t seem quite worth it.

I arrived in Paris at 7:30 AM.  Only an hour’s sleep on the plane, but I was eager to get to the conference.  Twenty-seven euros (!) secured me a seven-day transit pass. The clerk at the ticket counter informed me I needed a photo.  At the photomatic booth, a good-natured guide in a green COP21 vest told me where to get change for it. I’m sitting on a half-empty flight to Paris for COP21.
