Mission and Goals:
The International and Interdisciplinary Research Consortium (IIRC) initiative brings together scholars and artists from all the schools of Ithaca College who work across and between disciplines. The goal of the IIRC is to create new networks for interdisciplinary, international, and innovative work in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and the arts through opening space for wide-ranging discussions and debate.
The Research Consortium programs in a double helix model offering formal events and informal, innovative gatherings.
Its formal events include forums, public lectures, moderated dialogues on research and pedagogy, roundtable discussions on national and international issues, colloquia on research and post-screening and FLEFF lab discussions. Its informal gatherings are designed to offer more spontaneous yet sustained interaction for faculty through pop-up events, cafes, salons, coffees, and meet-ups.
Participating Ithaca College faculty serve as IIRC Affiliated Faculty and are featured on the FLEFF website. The Initiative is designed to foster dialogue, exchange, exploration, and alliances in intensive, intimate, interactive settings beyond the symposium, the conference, or the formal lecture.
The IIRC also programs the FLEFF/CFE Distinguished Scholar Initiative to bring senior scholars to campus to create and sustain alliances among Upstate New York academic institutions.
How faculty can become IIRC Affiliated Faculty
Ithaca College faculty members whose scholarship or creative inquiry extends across disciplinary lines or who envision new work that would do so are invited to become an affiliate of the IIRC.
IIRC Steering Committee
The Consortium Steering Committee is drawn from participants in the FLEFF/CFE Research Forums. Every effort is made to include faculty members from a variety of intellectual and artistic disciplines, especially those who have a strong interest in working collaboratively to enhance the intellectual and creative life of Ithaca College.
