BEVERLY BAKER ’54

Beverly Baker ’54 believes strongly in the value of an IC education and has chosen to make a planned gift in support of Ithaca College.

Born and raised in Ithaca, Beverly spent some 20 years in broadcasting in Ithaca, Syracuse, and New York City and then entered the travel industry. She opened her own agency, Baker Travel, in Ithaca in 1973. She shares with great pride that one of the very first two checks she ever wrote from the business was for her membership in the Friends of Ithaca College.

Beverly was president of the Friends of Ithaca College during IC’s centennial year, and is largely responsible for the Founder’s Day Concert in the Park, held in Dewitt Park, where the original Ithaca Conservatory of Music was founded by W. Grant Egbert.

"Education is an investment in the future of our country.”

FRED LAUB ’71

Fred Laub ’71 , parent ’00, has a deep and longstanding family connection to Ithaca College. His father, David, is a past chair of the IC Board of Trustees, and his daughter, Elizabeth, graduated from the institution in 2000.

Fred appreciates that he graduated without taking on debt and acknowledges that he benefitted by the philanthropy of others by having access to the resources and opportunities other donors created at the college. He also believes that those fortunate enough to have the resources to do so should be investing in others to better position them to be self-sufficient.

Fred loves that there are plenty of philanthropic opportunities at Ithaca College that can appeal to a myriad of personal interests and passions. His passion for music is at the center of his philanthropy and is why Ithaca College and the School of Music will be significant beneficiaries of his estate.

“Education is the best investment you can make in someone.”
