Teacher Education in the School of Humanities and Sciences
Ithaca College's School of Humanities and Sciences offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in teacher education. All of our programs are nationally recognized by their respective specialized professional associations.
Undergraduate programs leading to initial New York State certification are offered in the following areas:
Students pursuing teacher certification in one of the disciplines above will complete a "Teaching Option" major that combines the content of the disciplinary major with the Education Core--a set of courses that provide the pedagogical, historical, and theoretical grounding in Education as well as rich, field-based clinical experiences in education settings.
Graduate Programs leading to initial and/or professional New York State certification are offered in the following areas:
- Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) -Adolescence Education, grades 7-12 (Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, English, French, Mathematics, Physics, Social Studies, Spanish)
- Master of Science in Childhood Education - Elementary Education, grades 1-6
