Course Descriptions

Course Descriptions:

Course descriptions for current and previous semesters can be found to the left.

Overall View of Courses We Offer:

These course descriptions inform you only of what we teach this term; we teach a range of other classes in our curriculum.

For those, see the Undergraduate Catalog's list of history department courses. This is a full listing of the courses we have on the books; its limitation is that we also offer, each semester, experimental "special topics" courses as well as differing topics for our senior seminars and tutorials. The Undergraduate Catalog will not include any of those; the course descriptions on this page will.

Notes for Current Students and Advisors

We encourage students to work with their advisers when planning class schedules.

Be sure to check the appropriate Catalog to review your major requirements, and Homer to check your progress to your degree.

Your catalog year is the year you declared your major. For example, if you matriculated in fall 2012 but declared a history major in spring 2014, you would follow the 2013–2014 Catalog requirements, not those for 2012–2013.

The Office of Academic Advising is an additional resource for students and advisers.
