Faculty Diversity and Development

Dean Vincent Wei-cheng Wang appointed Associate Professor, Dr. Donathan Brown, to serve as the Inaugural Director of Faculty Diversity and Development.

The Position: The FDD will serve as an important advisor to the Dean of the School of Humanities and Sciences on matters pertaining to faculty development and will occupy a leadership role in the School’s strategic initiative on inclusive excellence among all faculty.

The Director: Dr. Brown, a renowned expert on race and public policy, author of four books, and 2017 U.S. Fulbright Professor, will lead the School of Humanities and Sciences in its efforts to revisit, revamp and resolve policies pertaining to faculty recruitment, retention, and development.

The Fall '17 Semester: Dr. Brown has and continues to engage AIRS, HR, EEO reports and small focus groups in efforts to strengthen the existence of available data pertaining to faculty recruitment and retention. This data has always developed into the creation of two recruiting initiatives for our diversity scholars fellows, with more underway. Dr. Brown is to reviewing current policies and procedures pertaining to faculty development and retention programs, along with other tasks in conjunction with Dean Wang and Associate Dean Murday.

In addition, Dr. Brown has launched this years Diversity Scholars fellowship search, with the Diversity Scholars post-doc search coming by early November.
