Fitness specialist of the month: Kelly Parker

Kelly Parker, senior clinical exercise science major, began working full-time in the Wellness Clinic this past spring. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, Kelly helps clients wake up and do this cardio resistance circuit. She helps them maintain their muscular fitness while keeping their heart rates up, and she assists and oversees clients with agility work.

Her favorite part of working in the Clinic has been interacting with the faculty and staff, watching them improve and seeing how excited they are to learn new exercises and recruit fellow colleagues. Getting to know clients on an individual basis, learning what they enjoy and how to engage them on a daily basis has also been hugely rewarding. She says one client loves sports, so she always makes sure the TV in front of him is set to ESPN and she’s up to date on current events and sports news. Kelly is our fitness specialist of the month for her commitment to the clients’ overall enjoyment.

In the future, Kelly hopes to move down South to combat childhood obesity. She believes her background, knowledge and experience at Ithaca College will help her tackle any new challenges.
