International Association of Business Communicators

IC IABC is the Ithaca College student chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators. IABC specializes in helping people and organizations:

  • Make business sense of communication

  • Think strategically about communication

  • Measure and clarify the value of communication

  • Build better relationships with stakeholders

The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) enables a global network of communicators working in diverse industries and disciplines to identify, share and apply the world's most effective communication practices. IABC/IC provides resources to students who are looking to enter the field of communication. It sponsors events for professional development and networking.

IC IABC started in Fall 2007. The chapter was revamped and revitalized during Fall 2011 semester, and continues to make strives in continuous learning, networking and professional development, and community relations.

Over the past few years, our student chapter:

  • Has traveled to Pittsburgh, PA; New York City, NY; Indianapolis, IN; Rochester, NY; Providence, RI; & Boston, MA at minimal cost (read: you pay for some food) to students.

  • Skyped or met with leaders at Macy’s, Socially Good Business, Food Network, Dulye & Co., Tiffany & Co., NYU, Shift Communications, Advanstar, and the Jane Goodall Institute, to name a few.

  • Hosted professional development workshops at the Women’s Opportunity Center in Ithaca.

  • Led workshops for students on campus pertaining to professional development.

The organization meets once a week on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. in the Ithaca Falls Room. New members are always welcome to join!
