Educational Technology Showcase Slated at Ithaca College

The 23rd annual Educational Technology Day event at Ithaca College will offer opportunities to look at — and play with — some of the latest computer and communications hardware and software. The 2013 show, which is free and open to the public, will take place on Thursday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Emerson Suites and adjoining areas of the Campus Center.

The largest multi-platform, multi-vendor technology event for higher education in upstate New York, Ed Tech Day also attracts attendees from the K–12 education and business communities. You’ll be able to talk directly with major computer and technology vendors, explore educational applications, be dazzled by computer graphics and state of the art audiovisual systems, learn how technology is being used today in and outside of higher education, and see what can be expected in the coming years.

Among the local and national companies represented at Ed Tech Day will be Apple, Dell, Lenovo, Finger Lakes Technology Group, Sherpa Technologies and Dyntek.

Representatives from many of the vendors will also lead seminars and discussion sessions throughout the day on a variety of topics, including “Content Creation— iBooks Author, iTunes U and Today’s ePub,” “Key Considerations when Selecting an Online Video Platform,” “Cloud Computing in Education,” “Ethical Hacking and Professional Penetration Testing Techniques” and “2013 Threat Predictions with McAfee.”

In partnership with the Finger Lakes Faculty Development Network, a special seminar track will focus on innovations and best practices in using technology for teaching, learning and scholarship.

Free parking will be available in campus lots, with shuttle bus service to the Campus Center.
