ITHACA, NY — The Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen series at Ithaca College will show the documentary “Gen Silent” on Wednesday, March 18, at 7 p.m. in Textor 102. It is free and open to the public.
The title of the film refers to the generation of older lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people who fear for their safety or quality of life. They may have been the ones who fought the first battles for equality, but now they face new fears of discrimination, bullying and abuse.
“Gen Silent” follows the lives of six LGBT seniors living in the Boston area who must choose if they will hide their sexuality in order to survive in the long-term health-care system.
Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen is sponsored by the Ithaca College Center for LGBT Education, Outreach, and Services. The screening of “Gen Silent” is cosponsored by the Ithaca College Gerontology institute.
