ITHACA, NY — A sociologist and spoken word/hip-hop artist who goes by the alter ego “The Professor” will speak at Ithaca College on Tuesday, March 24. Bruce Hoskins will present “‘The Professor’ Across Technology: Extending Conversations on Race” at 7 p.m. in Clark Lounge, Egbert Hall. His presentation is free and open to the public.
Hoskins teaches sociology at MiraCosta College in San Diego. His book “Asian American Racial Realities in Black and White” examines how people of Asian/white and Asian/black descent experience race. He presents workshops on diversity, and as “The Professor” he has released two albums with poetry/hip-hop pieces that cover his experiences as a husband, father, son, professor and mentor.
