Students Win Prestigious Scholarship

Michael J. Axtell '98 and Michael R. Mazourek '99 were recently awarded 1997 Goldwater Scholarships, the first time two Ithaca College students have received this prestigious honor in the same year.



Emerson Foundation Awards $500,000 Grant

The grant extablishes the James J. Whalen Scholarship Fund in honor of Whalen's 22 year tenure as president of the College.


Commencement Eve Concert:
An International Journey

Ithaca College's 30th annual Commencement Eve Concert, "Around the World in 50 Minutes," will be held on Saturday, May 17, at 8:30 p.m. in Ben Light Gymnasium. The concert is free and open to the public.
Festivities continue on Sunday, May 18, with the College's 102nd Commencement.

The educators, consultants, and communications professionals will meet with Chinese teachers and business leaders to discuss intercultural communication in the workplace.

The annual employee recognition dinner was held on April 6 in the Emerson Suites, Phillips Hall.


Phi Kappa Phi Honors Whalen

The Ithaca College chapter of the national honor society held its annual banquet and initiation ceremony, celebrating its 20th year on campus.



New Program:
College for (High School) Sophs

The two-week Summer College for High School Sophomores is intended to expose high school students to the Ithaca tradition of active academic learning in a conservatory tradition.
