Title

  • Passwords Requirements
    • Use a unique password for your Ithaca College accounts that you don't use anywhere else. Attackers commonly use stolen passwords from other sites and try them against IC systems.
    • Password length and complexity requirements are in our IT Knowledge Base: Creating strong passwords
    • Use passwords that are hard to guess. Make a password using first letter of each word in a sentence or generate a random password using a password manager app.
    • Use a password manager app, such as LastPass, to securely store your passwords and make it easier to have unique passwords for each of your accounts.
  • Enroll in Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR)
    • Microsoft’s Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) replaces NetPass Manager (NPM), which will no longer be available after the spring 2022 semester. Please enroll in SSPR, so you can use it if you ever forget your password.
    • For instructions: Quick Guide: Enrolling in Self Service Password Reset (SSPR).
  • Forgot your password?
    • If you have previously enrolled in SSPR, you’ll be able to reset it by clicking "Can't access your account?" at any Microsoft Office sign-in page, such as https://outlook.office.com, and your new IC password will sync across most systems within a few minutes. More information is at: Quick Guide: Reset forgotten passwords with SSPR
    • If you haven’t yet enrolled in SSPR, you may be able to reset your password with NetPass Manager (https://ithaca.edu/passwords) until May 25th, 2022 when that system is retired.
  • Changing your password if you know your current one
    • Log into https://office.com and click the gear icon at the top right to open Settings. Then click “Change your password.”
    • Note for IC macOS computers: Mac users currently need to sync their local computer password with their IC account password. Planned updates will automate and eliminate this need in the future: [How to: Sync your IC macOS password]
    • Note for off-campus IC Windows computers: Any time you change your password, off-campus computers may not immediately be updated to use your new password. If you’re unable to login, try your old password. Your password will sync the next time you’re on campus or you connect to our VPN (Quick Guide: GlobalProtect VPN).
