Dr. Christina Moylan Selected for Associate Provost for Graduate and Professional Studies

By MaryAnn Taylor, July 1, 2021

Submitted on behalf of Provost La Jerne Terry Cornish, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs:

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Christina Moylan to the position of Associate Provost for Graduate and Professional Studies effective July 1, 2021 serving a three-year term with the possibility of renewal.

As the Associate Provost, Dr. Moylan will oversee graduate and professional studies academic program planning, assessment, and review in collaboration with relevant offices, faculty committees, deans, and department chairs.  She will provide oversight for the Summer College Program, the Office of Extended Studies and provide guidance to the Chair of Graduate Council. She will partner with the Registrar, MES, and Finance and Administration to employ strategic approaches to graduate program marketing and recommend appropriate graduate program pricing. By assuming this new role Dr. Moylan will help ensure that our graduate students have a consistent and cohesive, graduate school experience.

Dr. Moylan brings significant experience to this position, having served in a number of different administrative capacities, including her recent appointment as College-wide Director of Public Health Emergency Preparedness, successfully managing the emergency COVID pandemic.  She also has nine years of higher education experience and a decade in health policy positions for both state and federal organizations.  Her current appointment is the Associate Dean in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance and she was the Coordinator of the HSHP Preprofessional Program for three years.  She also possesses a solid understanding of graduate curricular and admission strategies, having been involved with the development of two new graduate degrees while at Ithaca College, and serving as graduate faculty and a participant in the graduate admissions process in her previous position at the University of Central Florida.

As Associate Dean of our School of Health Sciences and Human Performance (home to 5 of the 12 graduate programs at Ithaca College), she supported the transition to a Master of Science in Athletic Training and the early developmental stages of the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. This involved extensive work with the undergraduate and graduate curriculum committee processes, department faculty and chairs, as well as coordinating with the Office of the Provost on professional accreditation and NYSED approval. Her wealth of administrative experience and knowledge of Ithaca College have prepared her to lead the college’s efforts to centralize graduate and professional education as recommended in the Ithaca Forever strategic plan as well as Shape of the College final.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Moylan and in thanking her for taking on this critical role serving our students and faculty.
