Update to New Employee Onboarding Process

By Michelle Hammond, August 3, 2021

As we start to plan for the approaching Fall Semester and the return of our students to campus, the Office of Human Resources would like to update the campus community on the Onboarding process for our new employees.

In conjunction with the transition to the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) model, our office has implemented an online Onboarding process to provide incoming employees and supervisors flexibility and a more individualized introduction to Ithaca College.  While we encourage new staff members to begin on a Monday as much as possible, this allows more flexibility for a start date other than a Monday.

The Onboarding process begins with communication from the Office of Human Resources to the new employee, welcoming them to Ithaca College, introducing their HR Business Partner, and providing resources available to them as they begin their onboarding.  This includes their Netpass username and employee ID number, how to access various IC accounts and systems, as well as instructions on securely completing and returning their Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification).  In addition, they will receive onboarding tasks through IC HR Cloud.  Much of the information new employees receive can be found on our New Employee website, as well as by directly working with their HR Business Partner.

We are excited to continue supporting our newest employees and their departments as they are welcomed to the Ithaca College community.  Hiring managers, supervisors and new student employee supervisors are encouraged to reach out to their HRBP with any questions regarding a new employee and/or the Onboarding process.
