As an Ithaca College faculty member, you have access to more than 15 Microsoft applications and services that can help with task management, file management, productivity, communication, and collaboration. Visit apps.ithaca.edu and click on the Office 365 Portal to get started! Ithaca College-owned devices come with the latest version of Office 365 which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneDrive already installed. You can also install Office on up to 5 personal devices­­­­­­­­­­.

Featured Applications:

  • Outlook Calendar – stay connected in-person and virtually with the Zoom for Outlook Add-In and Microsoft Teams Meeting add-in
  • To Do – manage your flagged email, create personal to-do lists from any device, and track deadlines
  • OneDrive – access and share your files anywhere, anytime, with 1 TB of cloud storage, automatic backup, Files On-Demand, version history, integration with Canvas including Cloud Assignments, and more
  • OneNote – create a digital free-form notebook that allows you to organize your notes in one central application, use search to easily find content, and collaborate with your students using a OneNote Class Notebook
  • Teams – instant chat with colleagues and students, collaborate, edit and share team files for projects or committee work, schedule or host a virtual meet-up, office hours or event, and use Microsoft Teams classes in Canvas to further student collaborations (learn more about Teams below)

Additional Applications:

  • Bookings – publish an online office hours calendar, integrated with Outlook, and let students book appointments with you in-person or virtual (through Microsoft Teams or Zoom)
  • Forms – create quick surveys, quizzes, and polls
  • Planner – create plans for a project or event within Microsoft Teams, set deadlines, and assign tasks to team members
  • Sway – create engaging, interactive presentations to share your story
  • PowerPoint – enhance your presentations with PowerPoint Designer, and rehearse your slide show with Presenter Coach
  • Excel – create spreadsheets, model and analyze data, and explore pivot tables
  • Word – edit and collaborate in real-time on shared documents, use Editor for grammar and spelling

  • Microsoft Translator – translate real-time conversations, menus, street signs, documents and more

  • Accessibility Checker – make your content accessible to everyone (Review tab)
  • Dictate – convert speech into text (Home tab)
  • Editor – review your document for grammar, spelling, clarity, conciseness, formality, and more (Home tab)
  • Immersive Reader – hear your document read aloud, translate text into another language, improve focus using line focus, and more (View tab)
  • Translate – translate text into a different language (Review tab)

Microsoft Teams:

Microsoft Teams is a desktop, mobile, and web-based communication and collaboration platform for Office 365 that brings everything together into a shared workspace where you can chat, meet virtually, share files, and work together in real-time around a topic or project. Teams offers group chat, online meeting and web conferencing, audio and video calling, collaboration with built-in Office 365 applications, OneDrive access, and more.

Microsoft Teams classes and Microsoft Teams meetings are available integrations within a Canvas course that allow for further engagement between instructors and students, group collaboration opportunities with threaded discussions, integrated virtual meetings, and more.
