A Fond Farewell to Greg Lischke

By Tim Carey, October 19, 2021

Following five stellar years of service as the Director of Energy Management and Sustainability at Ithaca College, Greg Lischke will be departing on November 15th to pursue the next exciting chapter in his professional career.

While I cannot possibly list all of Greg’s accomplishments in this brief Intercom post, I can highlight some of the more significant activities/initiatives:

  • Forged strong and collaborative relationships with our valued faculty colleagues and students to ensure that sustainability principles and initiatives being pursued by the Office of Facilities were communicated and well documented.
  • Provided leadership and oversight to ensure that the student sustainability group, Eco-Reps, was positioned to pursue a robust agenda.
  • Worked tirelessly to advance sustainability initiatives and practices that have positioned the College well for the future – including forging greatly enhanced relationships with local, regional and international sustainability and energy management organizations such as AASHE, TCCPI, Second Nature and Planet Forward, among others.
  • Led the process to review – and in some cases re-write – energy contracts to enable significant cost savings for the College.

I want to sincerely thank Greg for his important work contributions, his can-do attitude and the levity he brought to the Facilities Department and our campus.  I invite members of our campus community to reach out to Greg to thank him for his stellar service to Ithaca College.

I also wish to note that the institutionally important work in which Greg has been immersed since 2016 cannot and will not end with his departure.  Accordingly, I am already working with the Office of Human Resources to commence a search for IC’s next Director of Energy Management and Sustainability, and I encourage members of the campus community to point interested parties to the Human Resources website during the coming weeks for more information about this exciting opportunity.

Thank you.

Tim
