Students will be examining how self-portraits have played a role in struggles for racial justice and visibility throughout history. Students will build on and refine their understanding of photographs by making, viewing, writing about and discussing them. The class will investigate the medium through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, experimentation, readings and group critique.
