The Ithacan was named a national finalist for Best All-Around Student Newspaper (Small) by the Society of Professional Journalists in the 2021 Mark of Excellence Awards. The "small" category recognizes colleges and universities with 9,999 students or fewer.
The Ithacan had previously been recognized by SPJ as the Region 1 Mark of Excellence winner of the Corbin Gwaltney Award for Best All-Around Student Newspaper (Small).
