Paid Off-Campus Community Service Program Opportunity

By Kimberly Lieb, September 16, 2022

Ithaca College is excited to partner with nonprofit agencies and municipalities across the Greater Ithaca community through our Off Campus Community Service Program to provide Federal Work Study (FWS)-eligible students with jobs that directly benefit the community and prepare them in their career pursuits and academic discipline(s).

This year, we are partnering with the following organizations: Quarter Acre for the People, Finger Lakes Toy Library, Hospicare and Palliative Care Services, Nutrition for the Elderly/Meals on Wheels, Suicide Prevention and Crisis Service, Durland Alternatives Library, South Hill School Age Program, Tompkins County Public Library, The Cherry Arts, Open the Lid, Alcohol and Drug Council Inc., and Tompkins Center for History and Culture. All agencies are providing exciting opportunities for students to get involved.

As a Federal Work Study-eligible student, having received an FWS award in your financial aid package, we invite you to apply for a spot in the program. Recruitment and selection occur on a first-come, first-serve basis and students must commit to work at least nine (9) hours weekly. Please apply directly through the IC Student Recruitment Cloud.

This is an opportunity for students to put their learning into practice all while earning money through their work study award. For questions, please contact Student Employment at StudentEmployment@Ithaca.edu.

Requirements/Restrictions:

  • Student applicants must have received a Federal Work Study (“FWS”) award by Student Financial Services; before any jobs are assigned, IC Student Employment will verify the candidate’s FWS eligibility.
  • Ithaca College does not provide students with transportation to participating agencies nor does Student Employment subsidize transportation or fare. To be eligible to work off-campus, students must verify that they can access their agency when scheduled, through personal or public transportation. For questions/concerns, please contact Student Employment.
