Research opportunity for non-cisgender individuals

The Ithaca College Occupational Therapy Department is recruiting non-cisgender individuals to be in a study of gender euphoria. For the purposes of this study, non-cisgender means a person whose sense of personal identity and gender corresponds with their sex assigned at birth, thus non-cisgender is those who fall outside of this.

This study will explore what would make participants feel welcomed and supported in an OT setting and what they would like OTs to know about everyday activities that support gender euphoria, for the purposes of this study, gender euphoria is defined as the range of positive emotions that are elicited when someone feels affirmed in their gender identity. We are looking for non-cisgender individuals who are 18 years of age or older, reside in the United States, and are English proficient in order to communicate during the interview.

The study involves completing a demographic survey before the one interview session which will be conducted over zoom. The demographic survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete. The interview will take no longer than 45 minutes.  It is optional to keep the camera on. We will record the zoom interview and use the transcript option to transcribe the session. The total time commitment is 45 minutes. We would ask you to share as much information as you are comfortable with. Any identifiable information will remain confidential throughout the study.

Deadline to apply is Monday, October 31, 2022.

There are minimal risks for this study however since some of the interview questions may cause emotional distress, you can withdraw from the study if you become uncomfortable. All participants will receive a $25 gift card. For more information or to sign up, please contact:
