CAMPUS WIDE TOILETRY DRIVE!

By Connor Watson, November 1, 2022

UBSU: Let’s Support Ithaca’s BIPOC Community! It’s time to give back to the community that gives to us.

The Black Student Union is planning to have a toiletry drive from November 4th-
November 18th (right before Thanksgiving break). We will also be using our general
body meeting on Monday, November 7th for an open conversation about the importance
of Black femme mutual aid.
We've spoken with the Women's Opportunity Center of Tompkins & Onondaga Counties,
Mary Durham Boutique and they're thrilled to receive our donations for the local Ithaca
BIPOC community. This will be one of the first collaborations they've had with an IC POC
organization. We would like for this to be a big step towards the campus community
participating in mutual aid. Products can be bought from the local Black-owned hair
store (Mane and Tail), pharmacies, and supermarkets. We encourage shopping local
small businesses for products, but all donations are highly valued.
The donation boxes are available in the Center for Ideas office and the ALS lounge
where students and staff are free to stop by and donate. All products should be unused/
unopened.
