Important Dates:

Monday, January 23, at 8:00 am: Classes Begin

  • Be sure to check your registration and room assignments in HomerConnect.

Sunday, January 29, at 11:55 pm: Last day to add/drop a class

After Sunday, January 29, at 11:55 pm, your option for no longer attending a class is a Withdraw.

To withdraw from a class, you would fill out the “Withdraw from a course” form on IC Workflow. Once the student submits the form it will go to the Dean’s office for approval or denial. If it is approved, the student will be notified via their IC email, and it will be processed through the Registrar’s office.

Unlike dropping from a course (during add/drop week at the beginning of the term), the withdraw will be listed on your transcript as a “W.”  It will still show up on your course schedule but instead of showing up as “registered” it will reflect “withdraw.” If you decide to withdraw from a course, please contact Student Financial Services for further clarification about tuition.

If you decide to withdraw from a course as a full-time student but you are afraid that withdrawing would make you a part-time student, the credits will still be applied toward your full-time status. If you are an athlete, you must speak with Athletics. Always check with your faculty advisor and think about your graduation date before withdrawing from a class.

Friday, February 10, at 11:55pm: Last Day to Request S/D/F Option in Semester Courses

The intent of the satisfactory/D/fail (S/D/F) option is to encourage exploration and experimentation in curricular areas in which the student may have had little or no previous experience. Students may rescind the S/D/F election and opt for a regular letter grade until the end of the 10th week of classes (Friday, April 7, 2023).

  • Each undergraduate may elect S/D/F grading in no more than four courses in their bachelor’s degree program.
  • A student may elect only one S/D/F course per semester.
  • Any course for the major or minor must be taken for a letter grade unless the course is offered only on a pass/fail basis. In this context, required courses are those that are specified as such by number and title, or are selected to fulfill a specified number of department credits. Departments may set additional limits but cannot grant exceptions to the above stipulations.
  • To exercise the S/D/F option, a student must complete an S/D/F option form on IC Workflow. This form must be submitted to the registrar by the end of the third week of classes in the semester in which the S/D/F credit is being taken.
  • A student may rescind the S/D/F election and opt for a regular letter grade in a course until the end of the 10th week of classes (the same deadline for withdrawing from a course).
  • Any S/D/F election that is rescinded before the end of the 10th week of classes does not count toward the total of four courses.
  • Students who are registered for S/D/F and earn a grade below C- will have that grade (D+, D, D-, or F) calculated into their GPA. Grades of S are not calculated into their cumulative GPA.
  • Students planning to transfer to another school or department, or to enter a graduate or professional school, are reminded that their admission may be affected by S/D/F coursework.
  • The S/D/F option does not apply to pass/fail courses.
  • Ithaca College does not have an opt-in pass/fail course option.

The S/D/F option can be requested on IC Workflow Satisfactory, D or Fail (SDF) Request.

What is a Block I or Block II course?

Block I classes run for the first 7 weeks of the full semester term and Block II run the last 7 weeks of the full semester term. Block classes have different deadline dates from semester classes; be sure to review the calendar.

You can check if you are registered for a block course on schedule detail in HomerConnect.
