Over the next two weeks, all College-owned computers that are used by the staff members as their primary computer will be able to upgrade to Windows 11.
How Does This Impact Me?
The Windows 11 upgrade will be included as part of the standard ‘Windows Updates’ that routinely occur and will take around 15-30 minutes to complete. Additional communication regarding the upgrade will be sent directly to individuals that will be impacted. In addition, individuals will have the ability to delay the update (up to 14 days) by responding to the options in the upgrade pop-up window.
What Changes in Windows 11?
In addition to enhancing security, Windows 11 comes with several new features that help enhance the user experience. Highlights of some of the new features include:
- An enhanced centered taskbar
- Wider variety of useful widgets
- Four snap layouts that will allow easy screen space management
- An enhanced Settings navigation
- The ability to have multiple desktops
