IC Alum Luke Harbur ('18) To Talk About Navigating Life After College

Luke "Skippy" Harbur is a full-time freelancer specializing in strategic communications and entertainment. Harbur graduated with a B.A. in Journalism from Ithaca College in 2018. During his time at IC, Harbur participated in Ithacappella, The Ithacan, and started his own club called IC Beatbox, teaching and performing vocal percussion in and around campus.

Upon graduation, Harbur was hired as a Communications Strategist with the American Jazz Museum in Kansas City. In less than three years, Harbur helped the museum increase its annual video content by 400% and digital media reach by 250%.

Since November 2021 he's been hired  as a Strategist by 12 different organizations including The Kansas City Symphony, The White Theatre at the J, and The University of Kansas Health System. Harbur produces digital media as well as music and shows under his stage name, musicbyskippy.   You can follow his journey through social media at @musicbyskippy.

In his workshop "Why Media Matters," Harbur addresses the good, bad, and ugly roles media played throughout his adolescence, his college years, and his current business endeavors.

He will present his "Why Media Matters Workshop on Thursday, March 23rd from 12-1pm in the Park School Lounge (Room 223).
