CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2023 RECIPIENTS OF THE FACULTY PARK WRITING AWARDS

BOOK AWARD: Ellen Staurowsky, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Sport, co-editor and author of multiple chapters.

The chapters in this student textbook, published by Human Kinetics and written by a diverse team  of contributers, offer a comprehensive examination of diversity, equity and inclusion across the sports industry from a variety of unique perspectives.  

ESSAY AWARD: Cory Young, "Concussion Settlement and Racial Norming: The NFL Fumbles into a Crisis," a book chapter in SOCIAL ISSUES in SPORT COMMUNICATION: YOU MAKE THE CALL, published by Routledge. 

Young's essay examines race-norming and the communications strategies employed by the NFL in the allocation of the 2013 concussion settlement.

JOURNALISM: Patricia R. Zimmermann.  co-author of "How Ukranian Film Collectives Build Digital Archives and Stream the War," a commentary published n THE EDGE. 

Zimmermann's timely piece examines the archival practices of Ukranian filmmaking collectives during the current war and the critical functions they serve preserving evidence of war crimes and materials for future historical accounts.
