Windows 11 OS Coming to All Windows Devices on June 5th

By Jenna Lamb, May 15, 2023

The final phase of migration to the Windows 11 Operating System is coming this summer!

All remaining college-owned Windows computers that have not upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 will start receiving an update offer on Tuesday, June 5th. This update can be deferred by the user for up to 14 days (2 weeks).

How Does This Impact Me?

The Windows 11 upgrade will be included as part of the standard ‘Windows Updates’ that routinely occurs and will take around 15-30 minutes to complete.  Individuals can defer the update (up to 14 days) by responding to the options in the upgrade pop-up window.

At this time, most primary Faculty and Staff devices will have received the update, so this phase will primarily affect secondary and departmental devices.

Lab and Classroom devices will be updated to Windows 11 over the summer before the start of the Fall 2023 semester.
