The second annual Tompkins County "Fire Fighters Appreciation Day" is this Saturday, September 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the Ithaca Commons. Representatives from fire departments and emergency service providers throughout Tompkins County, including fire safety professionals from Ithaca College's Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) group, will be on hand.

There will be many events, displays, and demonstrations including a fire truck parade from Ithaca High School, along Cayuga Street to the Commons, beginning at 10:00 a.m. An awards ceremony will be held in the Center Pavilion at 11:00 a.m. A child car-seat fitting station will also be located at the Fleet Bank drive-in at Tioga and Seneca Streets from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

EH&S will be promoting home fire safety and conducting live sprinkler demos throughout the day. Stop by the Commons this Saturday to show your appreciation for the dedicated men and women of Tompkins County's fire and emergency service.
