The Jewish Community is on the threshold of another new year in the Jewish calendar. The 5,764th Jewish New Year -- Rosh Hashanah -- begins on the eve of Shabbat, the day of rest, falling this year on September 26. The holiday lasts until sundown on Sunday.

There will be Shabbat Rosh Hashanah services in Muller Chapel on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m., on Saturday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m., and on Saturday evening at 7:15 p.m. On Sunday, September 28, a special Rosh Hashanah service will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Emerson Suites.

Kosher dining will serve a holiday dinner in Terrace Dining Hall at 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 26. On Saturday, September 27, there will be kiddish and lunch in Terrace Dining Hall. For further information, contact Michael Faber, Jewish chaplain, 274-3323. Services and events are sponsored by Hillel.
