If you enjoyed the February Multicultural Reading Circle meeting, the next one is sure to be equally rewarding.

Audrey Cooper will lead the discussion of The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 17, 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Borg Warner Room at the Tompkins County Library .

About the book
This work chronicles modern life on the Spokane Indian Reservation. Victor, through whose eyes we view the community, is strongly aware of Native American traditions but wonders whether his ancestors view today's Indians--mired in alcohol, violence, and an almost palpable sense of despair--with sympathy or disgust. In spite of the bleakness of reservation life, the text brims with humor and passion as it juxtaposes ancient customs with such contemporary artifacts as electric guitars and diet.

Where to get the book
The book is available at the Tompkins County Library and at bookstores such as Barnes and Nobles, Borders, and the IC bookstore. It can be found online for as low as $5.39 at
