Wind Ensemble to Perform

Contributed by Erik Kibelsbeck on 04/25/04

The Ithaca College Wind Ensemble, directed by Stephen Peterson, will give a free concert on Tuesday, April 27.

Featuring works by Rogers, McAllister, and Maslanka, the performance will begin at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall in the Whalen Center. Professor of music performance Michael Galván will be the guest clarinetist on McAllister's Black Dog.

Peterson was appointed director of bands at Ithaca College in 1998. Previously, he had served as associate director of bands at Northwestern University and was also conductor of the renowned Northshore Concert Band. Peterson served on the faculty at Stephen F. Austin State University and has several years of teaching experience in the public schools in Arizona.

Galván is the principal clarinetist of the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra and the Ithaca Wind Quintet. He has performed with the Syracuse Symphony, Ensemble X, Glimmerglass Opera, and the Urbana-Champaign Symphony. He has made chamber music appearances with the Skaneateles Music Festival, Ariadne String Quartet, and New York Woodwind Quintet.
