The Robert Fisk lecture scheduled for Thursday, February 8 has been postponed.

Due to severe weather, Mr. Fisk was unable to make his scheduled flight out of Lebanon. We will work with him to try and reschedule as soon as possible.

British journalist Robert Fisk was to serve as the 2006-2007 Park Distinguished Visitor. His public lecture, "Observations on the U.S. and the Middle East," was to be presented on Thursday, February 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Emerson Suites. Details of the rescheduled event will be posted as they become available.

Robert Fisk holds 28 British and foreign press awards, more than any other British journalist, including the six "foreign correspondent of the year" awards and two "journalist of the year" awards. He is one of the few Western journalists to have interviewed Osama Bin Laden.

He is currently the Middle East correspondent for the British newspaper, the Independent. Fisk previously worked at the Times, a national daily newspaper in the United Kingdom, serving as the Middle East correspondent from 1976-1987 and as Ireland correspondent from 1972-75.

Fisk has covered the Lebanese civil war, the two Israeli invasions of 1978 and 1982, the Iran-Iraq War (1980-88), the 1991 Gulf War, and the conflicts in Algeria, Bosnia and Kosovo.

He is the author the best-selling Pity the Nation: The Abduction of Lebanon; The Great War for Civilisation - The Conquest of the Middle East; and two books on modern Irish history.

The Park Distinguished Visitor Series is made possible through the generosity of the Park Foundation.
