Sign up to receive a summary of Intercom headlines via e-mail three times a week.

As of Sunday, June 10th the Ithaca College email system has been successfully moved to Microsoft Live@edu. The new system will provide a reliable, robust email and calendar system (the calendar phase will be implemented in the coming months), including 10 GB of email storage. All users will need to perform certain steps in order to access the new email system. Please reference the below guides for instructions.

Note: Some email that was deleted or moved within the last week may re-appear in your Inbox. Any messages that re-appear will need to be deleted again. This was an unexpected result of the final cutover to the new system.

Also, it's possible that the migration of contacts from Webmail will not be complete until sometime during the day on Monday, June 11th.

Email Signatures

Since many people will need to re-create their email signature, this is a good time to review the email signature standards recommended by Marketing Communications. Instructions for creating a signature are included in the above guides.

Email Scams

No matter what email programs or systems we use, there are likely to be email "scam" messages sent to our accounts from time to time. As a reminder, always use caution and common sense when it comes to any notices sent to you about your email account (or your bank account, or an unexpected inheritance from a stranger, etc.). For any messages related to IC accounts, be suspicious of "from" addresses or long Web links that don't appear to have anything to do with Ithaca College. When in doubt, contact the ITS Helpdesk to verify the authenticity of any account-related email messages you receive. And remember, the Helpdesk will never send you an email asking for your password!

NOTE for iPhone users:

The iPhone 4 doesn't allow you to insert the necessary commas into the
outgoing server port field, when you set up your email. In order to insert
the required port "25,465,587" you need to use the note app and type in
the port with the commas, select it and copy it, and then paste it into
the port field.

Note for IT:

I'm experiencing problems with the Mac Mail application. Whenever I
send a message, the "sending" notification just keeps spinning,
indicating that it's continuing to send the message. The message does
send, and arrive, but the notification line just keeps spinning, and then
Mac Mail won't shut down. I have to force quit.
