Dr. Janet Galván, Professor of Music, conducted the Alabama Women's All State Chorus the first weekend in March. She also conducted the Massachusetts All State Chorus in a concert at Boston's Symphony Hall this past February.

Galván conducts the Ithaca College Women's Chorale, the Ithaca College Chorus, and is Artistic Director for the Ithaca Children's Choir. Her New York colleagues recognized her contribution to choral music in 1995 when she received the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) New York Outstanding Choral Director Award.

In 2010, she founded the chorus UNYC which has performed with the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra (Lanfranco Marcelleti, conductor).  Galván is the founder and faculty advisor of the Ithaca College ACDA Student Chapter, which has won Outstanding Student Chapter at the last three national conventions of ACDA.
