What's New with Public Safety

Contributed by Terri Stewart on 09/02/13

We look forward to working more closely with you!

The Office of Public Safety & Emergency Management has a new look, new mission and vision, and new guiding principles. However, we remain committed to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment and during the past several months we worked with several campus offices and external advisors for assistance with better alignment of our long and short range goals with the time-honored tenets of Community Oriented Policing. Our strategy calls for us to positively and purposely engage our campus community at every opportunity for the purpose of building collaborative partnerships for problem-solving. Through the application of community based education, outreach, and problem-solving approaches, we resolve to identify and address the conditions that give rise to public safety concerns. Further, we will be calling on members of our campus community to join us in a Public Safety Focus Group to assist us with developing goals, objectives, and action plans that support our new mission, beginning with a comprehensive evaluation of our current public safety services and service delivery. Look for additional information on this particular initiative as the semester progresses. In the meantime, we hope that you will take a moment to visit our website to view our new mission and vision, and our featured photo gallery depicting various images of our recent identity re-branding. Again, we look forward to working more closely with you!
