Please join me in welcoming Igor Khokhlov as the new Jewish Chaplain/Hillel Director, Dave Holmes, Catholic Community Campus Minister, and Laurie Wernly, Protestant Campus Minister.

Igor Khokhlov began his career with Hillel in 2001, in his home country of Russia. In many ways Hillel has shaped Igor’s Jewish identity, and now he is very happy to give back to the community and work on building exciting and relevant Jewish experiences in Ithaca.

Igor graduated from Hebrew Union College with a Masters in Jewish Nonprofit Management and Religious Education. He studied Hebrew and Jewish literature at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. After graduation, Igor moved from New York City to Ithaca to work at Cornell Hillel, where he most recently served as Program and Marketing Director.

Igor is thrilled to join Ithaca College community, and is excited to start building relationships with students, their families, and friends of Ithaca College.

Dave Holmes has had a deep passion for ministry since leading his first retreat in high school.

Dave was born and raised in Evanston, Ilinois. He attended Loyola University Chicago and received his Bachelor’s in Theology with minors in Sociology and Pastoral Leadership. He graduated from Loyola in 2010 and after graduation joined the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. In August of 2010 he was sent to Los Angeles and worked at “My Friend’s Place,” a drop in center for homeless youth. After a year in Los Angeles he chose to sign up for another year as a Jesuit Volunteer and was sent to Detroit where he worked for Holy Cross Children’s Services as a Chaplain for juvenile delinquents. After his year in Detroit, Dave moved back to Chicago and worked as a youth minister for a Catholic Parish. We are pleased to have Dave as part of the Catholic community.

Laurie Wernly received her Master of Theological Studies from Duke Divinity School in 2009. Laurie is excited about using her theological education at Ithaca College.  Laurie loves yoga, ultimate Frisbee, reading, and a good cup of tea!

Welcome to the Ithaca College community, Igor, Dave and Laurie!
