The Park Center for Independent Media will host a double-feature screening of new documentary films by Robert Greenwald and Brave New Films, followed by a Q&A with Jim Miller '85, a Park School alumnus who is now executive director of Brave New Films. The event, which will include a light buffet dinner, takes place in Park Auditorium on Friday, November 8, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The documentary films are War on Whistleblowers: Free Press and the National Security State (released in April) and Unmanned: America's Drone Wars (premiered in October). We'll be among the first audiences to see Unmanned.

Friday, November 8, 2013, 4:00-7:00 p.m., Park Auditorium, Roy H. Park School of Communications

Brave New Films has also graciously provided original Shepard Fairey-designed t-shirts, which will be given to the first 60 students who arrive and stay for the screenings.

Robert Greenwald and Brave New Films have made such hard-hitting films as OutFoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism, Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteersand WalMart: The High Cost of Low Price. The nonprofit pioneered free online distribution. Its hundreds of short videos exposing government and corporate malfeasance have had tens of millions of viewers and inspire grassroots campaigns for social justice and political reform.

Jim Miller graduated in 1985 from the Park School. His first job in film was on the romantic sports comedy Bull Durham starring Kevin Costner and Susan Sarandan. As executive director of the nonprofit Brave New Films, he is responsible for legal affairs, fundraising and finances, and building audiences and coalitions. Brave New raises most of its money through donations and fundraising.
