Want to learn more about leadership, team dynamics, how to reduce your anxiety or increase your confidence; or are you interested in the mental preparation of high school, college, elite and professional athletes? Ever wondered what you could do to improve your motivation to exercise? This course will answer these questions and more...  And it is open to all majors.

EXSS 20200 - Sport and Exercise Psychology will be offered online during Summer Session I. 

Course attributes: GE 1: Self & Society, Liberal Arts, Social Sciences 

This course is an introduction to all the psychological factors that influence individual and group performances, including sport and exercise participation. Mental Skills and training techniques such as goal setting, imagery, relaxation training, stress management, concentration/focus, motivation, team buiding etc. will be discussed. This course will also discuss how these mental skills and other techniques can be used to improve performance, self-confidence, manage anxiety and stress, improve confidence, and leadership, among other topics. The psychology of burnout, injury rehabilitation and exercise adherence will also be explored. While these topics focus on the experiences of athletes and exercisers, everyone can benefit from applying these concepts and tools to their lives.

This is an online class, and can be completed at your own pace to accommodate your summer plans.
