 The Center for IDEAS and student organizations all over Ithaca College have been working to make this month one that honors Black History at our institution in an engaging way. The month's theme is "Mending Our Broken Hearts". Each week we will remind the campus of the events being held.  Below are this week's upcoming events!

 NOTICE: Curl's and Coils Demo Day has been moved to February 23rd.  If you are interested in becoming one of their natural curly hair models for the event please contact the Center for IDEAS for more information or contact Curls and Coils through IC Engage.

Sighted Hands/Feeling Hearts presented by the LGBT Center

Feb. 12th || 6pm in Textor 103

The first feature documentary about Lorraine Hansberry, the visionary playwright of A Raisin in the Sun. Artist, activist and public intellectual, Hansberry was outspoken and defiant against injustice and her works tackling race, human rights, women’s equality and sexuality anticipated social and political movements on the horizon.

The Illustration of Bodily Love by Emily Jimenez presented by Café con IDEAS

Feb. 14th || 12pm ALS Room

Café con IDEAS provides a platform for student-artists to develop and project their voice in a 45-minute set while sharing personal narratives rooted in identity and anti-oppression. Ranging from comedy, spoken word, dance and performance, song, and visual creations, each session is designed to engage the audience through creative arts and empower individuals to look inward and consider their own responsibility to social change.

Make Love Make Sense presented by the Center for IDEAS

Feb. 15th || ALS Room 12pm

Many have wondered what a perfect relationship would look like, and, whether or not we admit it, some of us enjoy admiring celebrity relationships and comparing them to our own. In the SLI event students will be discussing the aspects of a successful relationship and evaluating the societal standards of black love. Participants will indulge in games and critique an episode of the show Grownish.
