Contributed by Kathleen Mulligan on 03/30/19

View printable version

Please join us for a FREE screening of The Gun Shop followed by a discussion with one of the film's producers. Wednesday, April 3 at 6:50 PM: Cinemapolis, downtown Ithaca.
The film is brought to you by The Fingerlakes Environmental Film Festival in partnership with the Central New York Chapter of the Fulbright Association.

“Nothing divides America more than their constitutional right to bear arms versus the merits of gun control. As the right to walk in off the street and buy a gun continues to be fiercely debated…, this film captures the role they currently play in so many people's lives by placing a fixed-rig of cameras inside a small, family-run gun shop in Michigan. Documenting the many and varied customers who come through the shop's doors, the film will reveal insights into the relationship that everyday Americans have with their guns that go beyond the gun-toting stereotypes. The film will introduce some strong personalities, humor and warmth to this critical issue, whilst exploring all sides of the debate.”

There will be a discussion with the co-producer of the film David Rocchio immediately following the film. Afterwards, join members of the CNY Chapter of the Fulbright Association for further conversation over drinks at REDS PLACE on the Commons, Ithaca. The mission of the Fulbright Association is to advocate for the Fulbright Program and promote international education. Our vision is a world where international exchange is widely recognized as a force for peace. http://centralnewyork.fulbrightchapters.org/
