The Office of Human Resources and TIAA invite you to attend the seventh annual IC My Future Retirement Planning Event on Tuesday, April 30, 2019.

The event will be held from 10am to 2:15pm in Emerson Suites with three sets of concurrent educational seminars available for you to choose from. Feel free to attend just one of the seminars, or an entire track of sessions! Representatives will also be available to talk to you on a drop-in basis when they are not presenting.

 Please click here to register!

Each set of concurrent sessions are designed to be beneficial no matter where you are in the planning stage:

 Early-Stage Planning

o   10am – 11:15am | Getting a Head Start: A step-by-step overview of your TIAA plan - A guide to the ins and outs of the plans offered at IC, the advantages of a retirement plan, creating a retirement strategy and how to update your account with TIAA.

o   11:30am – 12:45pm | Emeriti Retiree Health Care Program: What is it and how you can make it work for you - It’s important to plan for retirement healthcare expenses early, so you can approach retirement with confidence. Planning for healthcare costs in retirement should be part of your health and wealth strategy—one that helps you pursue a sense of financial well-being and lets you know it’s OK to retire.

o   1pm – 2:15pm | Estate Planning - Learn about wills, powers of attorney, living wills and heath care proxies. Come prepared with your questions!

 Mid-Stage Planning

o   10am – 11:15am | IC Retirement Policies and Procedures Explained – During this session we will discuss retirement eligibility criteria, retiree benefits, the steps you need to take to retire, and the Transitioning to Retirement Program.

o   11:30am – 12:45pm | Money at Work 2: Sharpening your investment skills - Knowledge is the best investment. Feel more secure in your savings strategy by verifying you’re on the right track. And if you’re off track, know what adjustments you need to make. Are you saving enough? Have you taken taxes into account? Do you have a financial plan—and have you thought about what retirement looks like?

o   1pm – 2:15pm | Halfway There: A retirement checkup - Help make sure your retirement is ready when you are. Halfway? Already? Retirement has a way of creeping up on people. Before you know it, you’ll be depending on all the money you saved and invested. But there’s still time. It may be time to give your retirement savings a checkup. TIAA’s workshop leader will provide information to help you determine where you need to be in your retirement savings, and how to get back on track if you’re behind.

Advanced-Stage Planning

o   10am – 11:15am - Medicare Basics | Designed for those who are approaching age 65 and/or are new to Medicare. Topics will include Medicare, Medigap plans, Medicare Savings Plans, the NY state prescription drug program (EPIC) and discount drug cards. Retirement health care cost reduction is the objective!

o   11:30am – 12:45pm | Medicare & Social Security: When am I eligible and what are my options? - No appointment needed – no wait time! At this workshop you will hear what you need to know about Medicare and Social Security. There will be ample time to ask questions of the representative from the Center for Medicare Services.

o   1pm – 2:15pm | Paying Yourself: Income options in retirement - It’s time to consider a little payback. You’ve made a lot of sacrifices in order to put away enough money to retire. When it’s finally time, do you know how to get the money back? There are lots of considerations, rules and tax implications that make these decisions very important and more complex. Relax. TIAA can help.
