Paula Twomey, DMLL adjunct Spanish instructor, has recently published Great Spanish Art: Write About It! with Teacher’s Discovery.

Twomey’s book uses great works of art by fourteen Spanish artists to serve as prompts for student writing exercises. These prompts allow student to explore a variety of forms, such as dialogues, poems, letters, biographies, autobiographies, newspaper articles, mini-dramas, journal entries, anecdotes, memoirs, and personal histories. The prompts are appropriate for high school and college students.

Great Spanish Art: Write About It! includes works by noted Spanish artists Miró, Goya, Velázquez, Sorolla, Dalí, Murillo, Zurbarán, Gaudí, Gris, El Greco, and Picasso.  During the past two years, Twomey has traveled to Madrid, Toledo, Córdoba, Ubeda, and Paris to research the lives and works of  several of these artists for inclusion in the book.

Twomey has published more that 25 activity books, readers, novellas, and speaking and writing texts with Teacher’s Discovery since 2000.  Titles include Classic Fairy Tales in Spanish, Aesop’s Fables in Spanish, Charlemos y escribamos, Entrevistas, Lecturas culturales de España, Lecturas culturales de Argentina, Lecturas culturales de México, El secreto del cenote, Improvisaciones: 101 Skits With a Point of View, Imaginemos, and Reflexiones.

Twomey has also written two novellas, Popo e Izta: una leyenda tradicional, and Celoso por amor, which will be available from Teacher’s Discovery in November, 2019.
