 Begin the spring semester engaged in social change! The 2021 Campus Wide MLK Celebration is upon us! This year all events will be held virtually. Below you will find some of the highlights for the celebration!

Monday, January 25th

Building Community Through Action | 5:30 PM EST. Join us for a panel discussion with local activists in the greater Ithaca area. Panelists will share personal experiences and insights on how they have turned community ideals into action. 

Student Activities Board Presents: FreeQuency  | 7:00 PM EST The Ithaca College Student Activities Board (SAB) is bringing spoken word artist, FreeQuency to share their art.  FreeQuency  was the 2018 Women of the World Poetry Slam Champion. Listen to a sample of their powerful voice here.

Black Artists United: Black Students and Burnout | 8:00 PM EST Join Black Artists United in exploring Black Students and Burnout. What does it mean to be a black student in a predominantly white institution? How can we see ourselves as our own to priority? When can we create boundaries within our work and social life when saying yes to favors that do not benefit us?

MLK 1st year Scholars Instachat | Systems and Structures | 12:15PM EST The criminal (justice?) system, public education in New York City, the experiences of women of color in the health care system, and taking accountability (at the individual, group, and community levels, including institutions).

IC Voices: Activism is Our Legacy with Rita Bunatal | 5:30PM EST  In 2015, Rita Bunatal, owner of Malaika Apparel, was a leading student activist on IC's campus as a part of the PoC at IC movement.  Pointed to as a pivotal moment in our campus' modern history for a call to equity and justice, PoC at IC was a spark for change.
