Farewell to Sayre Wilson

Contributed by Anne Woodard on 07/30/19

With mixed emotions, I wanted to let the campus community know that Sayre Wilson, Student Financial Services Specialist, will be leaving Ithaca to pursue an advanced degree at Binghamton University.  Her last day will be Friday, August 2, 2019.

As both an alumna (class of 2010) and a dedicated employee since September 2015, Sayre has given back to the community in many ways.  Whether helping a family in distress or eagerly volunteering her talents as a presenter or attendee at our community events, Sayre has not hesitated to step up to the plate when needed.  I will miss her enthusiasm, creativity, willingness to assist, and many talents!

Please feel free to stop by Student Financial Services to say good bye to Sayre and to wish her well on this next chapter of her life.  We will miss you, Sayre, but know that you will continue to be a wonderful ambassador for Ithaca!

The Office of Career Services wishes a fond farewell and best wishes to Kerry Spitze, Assistant Director for Industry and Community Engagement. Kerry's last day at Ithaca College will be this Friday, July 26th.

It is with mixed emotion that I share news of the departure of Jessica LeMore, Administrative Assistant in the Academic Advising Center.  Jessica will be starting a new position at Binghamton University, which will also allow her to have summers off – and spend more time with her wonderful family.

Jessica has been at Ithaca College for almost seven years.  She became the Administrative Assistant in the AAC when our doors opened in July, 2013.  She is responsible for creating a warm, welcoming environment for all who enter the AAC, and is highly respected by her colleagues. We are delighted for Jessica, but so sad to see her go.

Please join us on Thursday, July 25th, anytime between 11 a.m. and 1p.m. in Rothschild Place, Room 124 for a chance to wish her good luck in her new position!  Light refreshments will be served.

Together, these two faculty have contributed over eight decades of service to the college, graduating hundreds of students over the years who have made countless and varied contributions to the world of music. We are pleased to announce gifts honoring each of them.

JP Marinelli and his wife Danzey Burnham, parents of School of Music alumnus Will Marinelli ’15, have made a gift honoring Gordon that establishes a fund for percussion upgrades.  This fund supports the renovations of a percussion practice room and the purchase of additional percussion equipment.

We are also pleased to announce the creation of the Steve Mauk Endowed Scholarship. The scholarship was established by friends, family, colleagues, and former students of Dr. Mauk, and will be awarded annually to a saxophone student with demonstrated financial need.

We celebrate Steve and Gordon and express gratitude for those who have come forward to honor them with these gifts.

After 37 years of dedicated service to Ithaca College and Longview, Chris Pogorzala is retiring from her position as assistant professor of gerontology and IC/Longview partnership coordinator.
