Vision: Community Ideas and Input

Our vision answers, “what is the difference we are trying to make in the future?”

Below are verbatim comments related to what the college's guiding vision should be, gathered during the Fall 2018 all-staff, all-faculty, and Board of Trustees meetings.

  • To be an agent of change in the world
  • Foster global learning and leadership opportunities and never forget that behind every student, staff and faculty member there is a person, family, and livelihood
  • To be a global leader in providing innovative education to students of all ages, all races, backgrounds, etc.
  • GLOBAL
  • Providing an education for our students that enable them to be productive members of society.
  • Successful graduates who grow in their time on campus and have greater understanding of the world
  • Developing student into mature, honest, respectful individual ready to make a difference in the world.
  • I want to see Ithaca College making global impacts with innovative ideas. I want to hear Ithaca mentioned in some of the remotest conversations.

  • To foster students who are successful in the Global World at fostering a better overall humanity and protecting the security of the planet.
  • Leader in preparing students to positively contribute to the communities they join after graduation.
  • Become a recognized institution globally-
  • To be a leading and competitive liberal arts institution providing a unique and innovative educational experience
  • Innovation
  • IC should aspire to be an institution that prepares students completely and professionally. In my mind, it is not based on a liberal arts basis. Most kids come here to get a specific education.
  • Cultivate culture of wellness.
  • To be an inclusive community where everyone is heard and valued and learns from each other and the world

  • Be a national and global leader in active, applied, community-based learning and research.
  • create a brand for sustainability- one that focuses on social justice.
  • Creating global citizens
  • To give students the knowledge and experience to grow beyond what they thought possible and be a catalyst to speed up improvements in the lives of those they interact with
  • National and global leader in social justice-
  • Creating and sustaining a strong identity for the college and its students that emphasizes inclusivity and humanity.
  • Global recognition on many fronts
  • Be a student centered/ student ready college that can be globally engaged
  • Global recognize
  • Our graduates/alums/faculty/staff should share a common trait of being sensitive to the world around them- and champion a “for the good of humanity” approach to all things in work and life.
  • To turn out informed, involved citizens who will be agents of change for good in the world.

  • Imagining Ithaca: IC will be an organically inclusive college with an increased focus on liberal arts – educating the whole person.
  • Create opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to work together on community project which contribute to a better world.
  • GLOBAL
  • Global sustainable leader in student learning
  • To turn out well-informed, active and engaged students; producing students who will make the world better
  • Reputation would be preparing students for the work force in a global community.
  • Engender and support initiatives that combat global poverty, suffering, and inequity in all their forms
  • National and global recognition and impact
  • to sustainability
  • To be globally recognized and support international students and faculty and staff
